Summer time is macro time, but I haven't been out much in search of the small world this year. Last weekend, a trip to the Danish border produced some nice opportunities at last. A misty morning, no wind and plenty of 'cooled down' dragonflies (mainly Common darters Sympetrum vulgatum and Ruddy darters S. sanguineum) meant ideal conditions to get out the macro lens. We were happy to find some Sundew Drosera rotundifolia as well. As it grew right on the path, it was easy to get down for some close-ups.

04.2017 | Kittiwakes at Bulbjerg, Denmark
Bulbjerg is the only bird cliff in Denmark and is, unlike many other sea bird colonies in northern Europe, home to only one species in most years - the Black-legged Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla - Dreizehenmöwe).
At the end of April, I finally managed to visit this place in Nordjylland and wasn't disappointed. The action at the cliff was in full swing!
I recorded a short sound sample of the atmosphere at Bulbjerg, which you can listen to on the right.

I recently had the chance to visit the Swiss Alps for a long weekend together with Christian Höfs, Joachim Wimmer, Lukas Thiess, Ralph Martin and Torsten Bittner. Our main target was to photograph Bearded vultures at the Gemmi, a traditionally promising site for this species. Apart from several spectacular sightings of these majestic birds (more and better than we ever imagined), we were rewarded with nice photographic opportunities of different alpine birds and scenic mountain landscapes. Some very good memories - until next time with you guys...
